Solar Panel Cost in Miami: What 831 County Filings Show

Miami-Dade permit records from the last 12 months show what homeowners are actually declaring for solar installations.

Solar is a smaller market than roofing or air conditioning in Miami-Dade, and the county keeps a record of every job. That record is more useful than a sales pitch, because it shows what installations are actually being valued at across the county — not what a brochure says you should expect to pay.

What the records show

In the 12 months to October 2026, 831 solar jobs were filed on houses in Miami-Dade. The middle job was valued at about $24,400 — half the installations were valued above that figure, half below. The work was done by 103 companies.

Where solar work is concentrated

Solar installations cluster in a handful of ZIP codes. In 33177, contractors filed 58 jobs, with a middle value of $23,500. In 33032, there were 55 jobs, valued at about $23,500 at the middle. In 33186, there were 43 jobs, valued at about $25,500 at the middle. And in 33176, there were 42 jobs, valued at about $30,200 at the middle — the highest of the busy areas by a clear margin.

The busiest companies countywide were American Solar Installation with 164 jobs, Solar Dynamics Inc with 111 jobs, and Solar Volt Inc with 67 jobs.

Why system size drives the value

The declared values vary because systems vary. The number of panels is the biggest factor: a modest array sized to trim a monthly bill costs far less than a large array sized to cover most of a home's usage. Roof type matters too — mounting on tile takes more labor than mounting on shingle. Battery storage, where it is included, moves the declared value up substantially.

So a $23,500 job in one ZIP and a $30,200 job in another are not evidence that one neighborhood overpays. They mostly reflect different system sizes on different roofs.

Remember what the declared value is: the figure written on the county record when the job was filed. It is not a quote and not a final bill. Some companies declare conservatively; some declare closer to the contract price. Treat the middle value as a rough anchor, not a price list.

The market is concentrated — use that

Only 103 companies filed solar work in the whole county, and the top three alone account for a large share of the jobs. This concentration works in your favor: most installations are done by firms with a visible track record, which makes checking a company's local record easy. Before you sign anything, pull the company's permit history and see how many jobs it has actually filed in Miami-Dade, and where.

A company that has filed dozens of jobs in your ZIP code knows the local permitting process and the local inspectors. A company that shows up with no local filing history is asking you to be its test case.

The takeaway

If you live in one of the busy solar ZIP codes, you have plenty of recent, local data points and several established firms competing for the work. If you live elsewhere in the county, the same records still apply — the middle value of about $24,400 is the countywide reference.
