County permit records show what homeowners in unincorporated Miami-Dade declared for generator work from November 2025 to October 2026.
After a long outage, many homeowners start pricing a standby generator. Here is what the generator permits filed in unincorporated Miami-Dade show.
From November 2025 through October 2026, 104 standby generator jobs were filed on houses in unincorporated Miami-Dade County. The middle job was valued at $15,000, meaning half were valued above that and half below. The middle half of jobs fell between $15,000 and $19,000 (many generator permits are filed at exactly $15,000, so the lower quarter and the middle value are the same). The work was filed by 25 different companies.
Generator size, fuel type (natural gas or propane), the transfer switch, and the distance from the gas and electric connections drive the spread. Gas piping and a tank are often filed on separate permits, so the declared value here may not include them.
One caution: the value in these records is the declared value written on the permit when the job was filed. It is not a quote and not the final bill. The real cost can land higher or lower.
Treat $15,000 as a reference point, not a price. If a quote is far below the $15,000 to $19,000 range, ask what is left out. If it is far above, ask for a written breakdown. Then check that the company has filed similar jobs near you recently.
